Willard spoke on how to overcome desires by changing one's focus. It is the high degree of intimacy that drives sexuality in human beings that require uniqueness in the sexual relationship. We live in a day where this is seriously questioned. To state it very mildly. That is uniqueness in the sexual relationship and we need to understand that that is there in order that the degree of intimacy, with another which the human soul hungers for could be met. It can't be met in other ways. The degree of intimacy and uniqueness in the sexual relationship uh can only be developed and sustained by a Godly love and that is by God, and thus marriage is a sacrament. That is to say it is a divine work, it is a grace. In the absence of intimacy and uniqueness that agape love makes possible, the desire for a physical Union remains.
