May I focus your attention just to start on a verse found in the Gospel of Luke chapter 9 verse 23. Luke chapter 9, beginning with verse 18 is my most favorite chapter in the Bible. If you want to make an inductive study of the meaning of the cross, this is the best chapter in the New Testament. "Then He said to them all, if anyone desires to come after me, let Him deny Himself and take up His cross daily and follow me." Jesus wants you and He wants me to be effective missionaries for Him in our generation. And He tells us what the basis of that effectiveness will be by saying, "Take up your cross daily." Without the cross, we cannot be effective missionaries. So my message to you is a reminder: let us be Christians.
