Abstract

The article compares the perspectives of U.S. caregivers and special education teachers on the effects of collaborative relationships between home and school on the education of students with autism spectrum disorders. It describes the results of studies which have indicated caregivers' opinions on what facilitates effective collaborative relationships. It also discuses the importance of a family-centered approach and caregiver involvement in the education of intellectually-disabled students.
