Abstract
- The article focuses on knowing reality based on the ontologically reductive physicalist views of Nancey Murphy in various disciplines including neuroscience, philosophy and theology. It reviews the view of Aristotle on the essence or nature of substances, the ontological view of Murphy favoring nonreductive physicalism and her consideration of nonneural circumstances. It also notes ontological resources of Murphy for knowing reality and her rejection of foundationalism.
