Abstract

The first o f three brief articles addressing the development o f evangelical Christian education in the 20th century. The early p a r t o f the century was a time o f loss o f influence and marginalization within the broader religious education movement, but the time period concluded with the beginnings o f new cooperative efforts among evangelicals. The article provides a context for the essays on evangelical Christian education leaders that follow.
