The early Christian community, if you lived in that Christian community and you had a friend who passed away or a loved one and you could not afford the burial, the church would come along and would subsidize. And if they hear that any of their number is imprisoned or oppressed for the name of their messiah, all of them provide for his needs. And if it is possible that he may be delivered, they deliver him. And if there is among them a man that is poor and needy, listen to this. And they have not an abundance of necessaries.
Early Christian community, somebody in the community didn't have food, but they were poor themselves. They would voluntarily fast their portion, give up their own food to provide to the one who had food.
