Dr. Sandra Richter approached Sabbath from a different angle. Richter led by defining Sabbath as an opportunity remember who we serve, and the examined the mandate of creation care that underlies all of God's Sabbath commands to the nation of Israel in the Old Testament.
Sabbath forces us to acknowledge God's sovereignty over the world and our lives. We are called to be good stewards of the world as the world is completely God's and we are under His rule and authority. Time, too, belongs to God and He has called us to acknowledge that.
